What happens if I redeem my Gelephu International Airport Fixed-Term Deposit (FTD) before the lock-in period?
Updated over a month ago

If you redeem your Gelephu International Airport Fixed-Term Deposit (FTD) before the expiration of lock-in period (December 31, 2029), a penalty of 5% of the principal paid or total principal payable will be applied. This penalty is applicable to both the bank and the Fixed-Term Deposit holder, and it will either be deducted from the proceeds paid to the Fixed-Term Deposit holder or paid directly to the Fixed-Term Deposit holder by the bank along with the redemption amount. It's important to note that any partial redemption must be in multiples of USD 500. Therefore, while early redemption is possible, it comes with financial implications that should be carefully considered.
